Summary
This is a story of intrigue and passion set against the background of the late 18th century when the conflict between England and France was exacerbated by the American War of Independece. Lottie, Zippporah's daughter, humiliated by Dickson Frenshaw's rejection, goes to live in France with her newly discovered artistocratic French father. She finds romance, adventure and tragedy as duty keeps her in her adopted country on the eve of revolution while her heart turns more and more to England
