Summary
The story of Big Bear, the real life Cree chief who campaigned for his people and their land against the Canadian government in the 1870s and 1880s. Pushed to the breaking point, the Cree warriors launch a deadly attack at Frog Lake. With vengeful army troops relentlessly in pursuit, the Cree know that another even more bloody battle will followWith steadfast, incorruptible principles and a piercing foresight of historical trajectory, Chief Big Bear made history in the 1880s by refusing to surrender the Cree's ancestral lands to the Canadian government. Fearful of the bleak future he believed life on land-grant reservations would offer, Big Bear urged his people to unify with other tribes and resist the empty promises and unfair deals put forth by the Canadians. In response, Canadian troops surrounded the Cree to starve them into submission. Torn between the leader they loved and the hardships they faced at the hands of the Canadians, Cree warriors staged a deadly attack against caucasian settlers. With a vengeful Canadian army ready for retribution, the Cree make a desperate last stand, one Big Bear knows will reap tragic results. -- CD Universe
