Summary
Based on real-life events, the film tells the story of Dublin journalist Veronica Guerin, a relentless crime reporter for The Sunday Independent during the early '90s. In 1994, Guerin--who had previously been reporting corporate corruption and church scandals--turned her attention to Ireland's increasing drug problem. Her investigations, however, brought her to the attention of Dublin's crime underworld; the deeper she dug, the more danger she found herself in. Guerin's violent murder in 1996 led to a revision of Ireland's laws and the creation of the Criminal Assets Bureau, allowing the government to seize dealer assets. After Guerin's death and the resultant investigations and arrests, drug crimes in Ireland dropped by fifty percent
