Summary
Michael Carty is a rural small-holder in Ireland, who sets out for Enninscorthy after the death of his Fenian father. Margaret Dempsey is the daughter of a prosperous merchant situated in the same town. Their unlikely love story is overshadowed by the events of Irish history between the death of Parnell in 1891 and the 1916 Rising. 2002
