Summary
L'Heureux describes the places visited by the Blackfoot people, using the Blackfoot names given to the landmarks and areas they considered important. This is significant as the area was left blank on the explorer Palliser's date map and which Butler called "the great lone land." The manuscript was both translated from L'Heureux's very bad French, and edited, by Edmonton historian Allen Ronaghan. Dr. Ronaghan spent many years locating the areas described by L'Heureux; these are shown on maps in the book. The book also includes L'Heureux's original manuscript and most of a glossary of Blackfoot terms that he prepared in 1878, including the names of common and natural objects, and trade goods important in the lives of Blackfoot people in the late 1800s
