- The compelling story of Billy the Kid and his girlfriend. Jane Russell's first film role where she steamed the screen in her portrayal of Rio, Billy's girlfriend. Considered notoriously sexy in its day. The directors had a great interest in Russell's bosom, which is evident in the filming
- Newly appointed Sheriff Pat Garrett meets with an old friend, Don Holliday, who is on the trail of his stolen horse that Billy the Kid has. When Doc and Billy become friends it affects the friendship with Pat and Doc and he asks them to leave his town
